Where to start??

I mean, DAMN! Who has the piano chops? Serious fusion into bebop, sounds great. Should've made it a little longer maybe, but you get my vote.

5/5, 10/10.

You haven't posted anything in a long time, I'm glad your posting again.

SSM-NW responds:

Thanks for the great compliments...and those would be my chops.

Would love to do something like this with a live group, but this style ain't what pays the bills, unfortunately.

Again, thanks, and best to you!

cool

nice to hear something different. every one sounds great, but the kick drum kinda sounds a bit too up front...I realize this is in 7/8, but the pulse is well established without having the bass drum pattern up so loud. great job overall, and I look forward to hearing more of your stuff.

sorohanro responds:

is not really a kick drum, is "tupan", something betwen kick and snare, size of a kick drum but played with special sticks and having pieces of wood on the skin, also on one side have cords stretched across ...
thanx for review

At least it was in tune, for the most part...

...I'm not really sure what else to say, or not say.

I take it you're young, or just starting out, which would explain why you didn't follow the changes during your solo. But you stayed pretty safe in the realm of the pentatonic, so I guess I should hand it to you for not trying to reach too far past your limits. I realize that this was a practice session, but theres almost no reason to practice your "foot in the bell" low A, because you'll never use it in practical situations--I've only seen it written in a couple of Rob McConnell charts purposely, and only then for effect, and I can't think of any alto players who seriously try to go that far down on the horn.

Bravo to you, though, for putting this out there for the world to hear and criticize. Takes guts

Keep practicing, and it will come together. Good luck.

Harshness! Eek!
I'm young, and I didn't follow the changes because, as I said, I was just having fun!
Also, I'm not great at actually following the written changes, as I'm not currently able to read them all. So I find a safe spot, and stick with it when I don't know what ta do

As for the foot in the bell, again, I was just having fun. I mean, what good is jazz if its boring for the player? ^^
And my teacher does, Sam Skelton. He can get about 4-5 octaves on the alto. Crazy, I know.

Nice to hear from another saxophonist!

I'm 16, I play sax, and I like money...
